Our Current Vacancies

Our Current Vacancies

We are always on the hunt for new talent!  If you would like to support our children and give a little time back to the local community then I would love to hear from you.  I have listed below some of the current roles that I am looking to fill.  If these roles don’t fit your skills then get in contact with me using the details below.  I would love to talk to you and help you to work out where you could fit.

You can volunteer as little or as much time as you want,  If you want to join in every week then we have a role for that, if you can only spare an hour a month then we can cater for that as well.  If you want to spend time teaching children new skills then we need you, alternatively, if you’re a great organiser or a whiz with a Spreadsheet then we need that too.  Volunteering is flexible.

I look forward to speaking with you.

Jim

Beaver Section Assistant

Would you like the chance to teach a group of willing children a new skill while enriching your CV? As a Section Assistant in the 2nd Exeter Beavers you will do all this and more, using your current skills and learning new ones.

We need a fun, committed person to support young people, helping run games and activities as part of weekly meetings.  As part of a small team, you will plan and deliver a safe and exciting program for young people, helping them achieve badges and awards.

Enthusiasm and empathy with young people as well as a sense of humor are a must.  But we can teach you the rest.  We’ll support you all the way and ensure you get the training and support you need.

Cub Assistant Section Leader

Help deliver skills for life.

Would you like the chance to go camping, climbing, potholing and lead community projects while helping prepare young people with skills for life?  As an Assistant Section Leader you will do all of this and more, using your skills and learning new ones.

As part of 2nd Exeter (St Michaels) Cub Pack, you will join our team and help to plan and deliver a safe and exciting programme for young people.

You’ll use your energy and creativity to help young people have fun, develop their potential and earn a wide range of badges and awards, including the prestigious Chief Scout Awards. Of course you won’t have to do this alone – a team of leaders, parents and the young people themselves will help you plan and deliver the programme.

No experience is required, just a sense of fun and enjoying learning new skills with our children.

GROUP EXECUTIVE MEMBER

Every Scout Group requires trustees, which form the Group Executive Committee.

This committee oversees the administration of the Group.  As well as a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, each Executive welcomes people with specific skills, and representatives of Beaver, Cub and Scout parents.

Our Group Executive meets three or four times a year, but effective members will volunteer for tasks in between the meetings, thus ensuring the smooth running of the Scout Group and maximising its potential for a hugely positive impact on its young members.

Fundraiser

Can you help fund the future?

Are you a whizz on the computer? Do you have experience of applying for funds and grants? Then we need your energy and initiative to help us.

2nd Exeter (St Michaels) Scouts need a group fundraiser to help us with our ambitious plans to build our new Scout Hut in the next five years.  Raising money through applying for grants will enable us to do this. We have the knowledge if you have some time!

No specific time commitment is required and the role is flexible enough to fit around you.  We’ll provide full support and training, a sociable network, plus it all looks great on your CV.

Hut Rebuild Chair

Our exciting plans to re-build our Scout Hut are underway! We have been fundraising behind the scenes but lack any knowledge of building experience.

Can you help?

2nd Exeter Scout Group needs you to lead our Hut Rebuild Committee.

Your construction skills will help guide our team in our ambitious plans to knock down and re-build the Scout Hut in the next five years.

Scouting relies on strong leadership.  So if you can motivate others, keep a cool head and balance a variety of views, then you would be the ideal person for the job.

You will use your strong communication skills to help our team of committed adult volunteers arrive at a good decision that will benefit young people.

No previous experience in Scouting is necessary.  What’s more important is your own skills and experience as well as empathy with our mission and values.  We will provide appropriate training and ongoing support.

Hut Rebuild Committee Member

Do you have a certain set of skills that can help us achieve our dream?  Our Scout re-build Sub Committee is focused solely on our aim to deliver a new Scout hut for the Group within the next five years.

You don’t need to be a builder, (you don’t have to pick up any tools).  We need your passion and organisational skills to help us to deliver on our ambitious plans.  The Committee will meet three to four times a year but there will be work to be done between meetings so the time will fit in around your other commitments.

Out current Hut has stood on site for 50 years, we would love your help to deliver a building that will see us through the next 50!
